Joining AAUP at the Ohio State University

Joining the AAUP says that you’re concerned about academic freedom, and about the way that basic freedom protects your teaching and research. It says that participating in faculty governance is important to you, and that you are concerned about career issues, tenure, and the overuse of contingent faculty.

There are several levels of membership. The yearly rates given below include membership in national AAUP, Ohio Conference AAUP, and OSU AAUP. You must join all three levels. This includes an $18 fee which supports the OSU AAUP. See fee chart below.

Full-Time Associate (teacher, researcher or similar academic appointment) $213
Entrant (nontenured faculty, new to the AAUP, or new to a full-time appointment) $116
Joint (person whose spouse or partner is a full-time member, only one copy of Academe) $116
Retired $113
Part-Time (faculty paid on a per-course or percentage basis) $68
Graduate $68
Associate (non-voting membership for all other supporters, including administrators and the public) $165

OSU faculty may pay the amount above annually to OSU-AAUP or on-line to the National AAUP. To pay directly to OSU AAUP, print and fill out the pdf form, sign and date it, and send it to Lynne Olson. You can opt to pay the annual membership dues and enclose it with the pdf form or ask that to enrolled for a monthly payroll deduction:
